With optimism in one hand and a paintbrush in the other, Jody Malcolm is cultivating an outlet for positive thinking during these strange times.
The Color Me Mine Airdrie owner offers a relaxing, creative atmosphere for the budding artist or potential Picasso looking to craft a masterpiece or just draw up some fun.
"I find Airdrie is amazing for supporting local. I think we've lost some great businesses and the community realizes that and are making an effort to support local," says Malcolm who has been inspiring artists at the pottery painting studio for four years.
Repeat customers and a strategy change to curbside pickups and delivery of paint-to-go art kits has kept Malcolm in business during the pandemic.
With COVID-19 restrictions, Malcolm can still accommodate groups of 12 painters, at 25 percent capacity, but recommends reservations. She is also offering parties and events over Zoom.
“Summer 2020 was very slow for us once things began to open and people could spend more time outdoors. As of now, things remain slow but steady.”
Color Me Mine Airdrie offers numerous projects for young and old including candy heart dishes, Star Wars mugs, plates and trays in many different styles, even a skull mug.
No painting skills are required, just a love for colourful fun.
"We have a lot of people come in to paint just for fun. Most people tell me they come to relax and spend time with family and friends."
